I’ve worked with Phil twice and again never met the man. First time was for George Martins album where Phil played ‘Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight’. We recorded the rhythm section at Air studio, the hall with Ian Thomas on kit which Phil replaced later. Ian turned up and forgot his kit! But you can ask him about that. The other time was a session for Marius for Phil’s broadway show, which I think was a movie too. They made a cast album and Phil had to record another song which he’d perform. It’s called ‘Everything I am’ and I played my NS electric upright. Marius asked me what I called the NS, I said it’s not a double bass so I’m not sure what it’s proper title is. So I’m credited as playing the ‘bass thing’.
